Shettima Travels to Angola for African Union Peace and Security Summit
Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Luanda, Angola, where he will represent President Bola Tinubu at a special African Union summit focused on peace, security, and conflict resolution across the continent.
The gathering will bring together African leaders and key stakeholders to discuss measures aimed at addressing regional security threats, preventing conflicts, and promoting lasting stability in member states.
Nigeria is expected to participate actively in discussions on strengthening continental frameworks for peacebuilding, dispute resolution, and conflict prevention. The country is also expected to reaffirm its commitment to supporting efforts that promote stability and cooperation across Africa.
During the summit, Shettima will present Nigeria’s position on key issues under consideration and highlight the country’s continued role in advancing peace and security initiatives on the continent.
The Vice President is accompanied by senior defence and security officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
