Shi’ite Protest in Adamawa Over Killing of Iranian General

Members of the Shi’ite Islamic Movement in Nigeria staged a protest in Numan, Adamawa State, on Wednesday, in reaction to the killing of Iran’s Quds Force commander, General Qassem Soleimani. The demonstration comes amid heightened tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel.

The protesters, chanting slogans against the US and Israel, burned American and Israeli flags. They carried placards with inscriptions such as “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”

Among the demonstrators were women and minors, who braved harsh weather conditions to participate in the march.

According to eyewitnesses, the protesters moved through major roads in the town, disrupting vehicular movement for several hours and causing anxiety among residents.

Local sources described the atmosphere as tense, with concerns that the protest could escalate into violence if not contained by security operatives.

Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media showed Islamic students, believed to be members of the same group, marching on US and Israeli flags. Checks revealed that the video originated from Kano State, though the exact location of the recording could not be confirmed as of the time of this report.
