Six Family Members Abducted in Early Morning Terrorist Attack on Adamawa

Suspected terrorists attacked Gare Village in Madagali Local Government Area in the early hours of Tuesday, kidnapping six members of the same family and rustling livestock. Madagali is the hometown of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje. According to the statement, a combined rescue team comprising the police, troops of the 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been deployed to the area for search-and-rescue operations.

“The Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets… to the affected area and surrounding communities,” Nguroje stated.

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris has ordered sustained operations, reinforced patrols, and increased security presence in Madagali and surrounding border communities to ensure the victims’ safe return and prevent further attacks.

This attack occurs as Governor Fintiri begins a tour of the state’s 21 local governments to assess security and other issues. It follows recent violence in the state, including an attack in Hong Local Government that claimed 12 lives and a communal clash in Lamurde earlier this year that left over 20 dead.

The police command, in collaboration with the military, affirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, promising to provide further updates as operations continue.
