Soludo Takes Oath for Second Term as Anambra Governor

Professor Charles Soludo has been officially inaugurated for a second term as Governor of Anambra State, with the ceremony taking place at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Tuesday.
Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, in a ceremony attended by a host of prominent political figures and dignitaries.
Among those present at the event were Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, and former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku. Several state governors, including Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, also attended the inauguration.
The swearing-in followed Soludo’s victory in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The governor secured re-election with 422,664 votes, defeating his main challenger, All Progressives Congress candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu, who received 99,445 votes. Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party finished third with 37,753 votes.
