South African Anti-Immigration Group Issues September 30 Deadline for Undocumented Foreigners

South African anti-immigration group, “March and March,” has issued a new deadline of September 30 for undocumented immigrants to leave the country. The group announced the deadline while protesting outside the venue of the 46th Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit in Durban.
Demonstrators marched through central Durban under the banner “It’s time to fetch your people,” calling on attending African heads of state to repatriate their citizens living in South Africa without legal authorization. The demonstration marks a continuation of the movement’s earlier nationwide actions on June 30, with organizers warning of a larger protest planned for the end of September.
The protest coincided with the gathering of leaders from the 16 SADC member states. Addressing regional delegates, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa condemned xenophobia and violence targeting foreign nationals, emphasizing that regional integration must align with domestic actions against discrimination.
The development follows months of heightened tensions, security operations, and calls from regional partners urging the protection of foreign citizens residing within the country.
