Spanish Football Chief Confident Spain Will Host 2030 World Cup Final

The President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzan, has confidently stated that Spain will host the final match of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, despite no formal decision from football’s global governing body.

Speaking at a Madrid sports press event, Louzan cited Spain’s proven organizational capacity as the key reason. “Spain will lead the 2030 World Cup and the final of that World Cup will be held here,” he declared.

The 2030 tournament, celebrating the event’s centenary, will be jointly hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay staging selected opening matches. While Portugal is lobbying for a semi-final, Spain and Morocco are seen as the main contenders for the final.

Louzan directly referenced Morocco’s recent hosting challenges, pointing to crowd disturbances and operational issues during the African Cup of Nations final. “We saw scenes that damage the image of world football,” he stated, while acknowledging Morocco’s ongoing stadium development.

His claim, however, has been met with caution. Spanish radio network Cadena SER reported that FIFA has not yet decided on the final venue and may not do so until after the 2026 World Cup. Analysts suggest Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is the frontrunner, potentially aided by Real Madrid’s strong ties with FIFA.

Morocco is also vying for the final, planning to host it at the new Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca. Louzan described the 2030 edition as a historic milestone, pledging that Spain aims to deliver “the best World Cup in history.”
