Student’s Death at Niger University Prompts Gambling Warnings

A 300-level Computer Science student at Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, Kelvin Danlami, has died in an apparent suicide.
According to police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun, the student was found on Monday morning in his room. Preliminary investigation suggests he took his own life after reportedly losing money entrusted to him for rent through gambling.
The Students’ Union Government expressed deep sorrow over the “tragic and irreplaceable loss” in a condolence message. Fellow students have used the incident to warn peers about the dangers of seeking quick money through gambling.
Police say investigation into the circumstances is ongoing. The university community has been urged to show support as the student’s family grieves.
