Sule Orders Probe, Threatens Sanctions Over Alleged Diversion of Hospital Donations in Nasarawa

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has ordered an investigation into the alleged diversion of items donated to Umaisha General Hospital in Toto Local Government Area, warning that any staff found responsible will face dismissal and possible prosecution.

The directive was issued during the inauguration of newly appointed government officials in Lafia, where the governor expressed concern over reports that donated hospital equipment could not be accounted for.

The controversy emerged after a lawmaker representing the Umaisha/Ugya constituency raised questions about the whereabouts of mattresses and fans he donated to the hospital to improve patient care and facility conditions.

Governor Sule described the allegations as disturbing and instructed the Commissioner for Health to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit findings within days.

He stressed that public institutions must be held accountable for resources entrusted to them, especially those intended to improve healthcare services for residents.

The Governor also directed relevant civil service authorities to ensure that any official implicated in the matter is subjected to appropriate disciplinary measures in line with established regulations.

The investigation is expected to determine whether the donated items were mismanaged, diverted, or improperly distributed, as concerns grow over transparency and accountability in public health facilities across the state.

Residents and stakeholders are awaiting the outcome of the probe, which could lead to further administrative and legal actions if wrongdoing is established.
