Suspected Robbers Trail Man from Bank, Snatch Over N10m in Niger

Some suspected armed robbers have allegedly trailed a man from a bank in Niger State and robbed him of more than N10 million on the road.

The incident occurred on Friday after the victim had reportedly received payment from a client. According to sources, the robbers overtook the man along Shiroro Road in Minna, seized the money, and made away with his Toyota Camry.

The assailants abandoned their own Toyota Corolla at the scene before fleeing with the victim’s vehicle. It was gathered that the victim managed to recover one of the rifles abandoned by the robbers during the attack.

Confirming the incident on Friday, the Niger State Police Command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, said operatives had recovered the rifle and the vehicle left behind by the suspects.

He stated that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing robbers.

“On March 6, 2026, at about 3 pm, suspected armed robbers attacked a Toyota Camry reportedly trailed from a bank to Shiroro Road. The victim was robbed of a sum of money and his vehicle, while the robbers abandoned their Toyota Corolla and escaped with the victim’s vehicle.

“Further findings indicated that the victim recovered one of the robbers’ rifles. Police operatives attached to Tudun-Wada Division moved to the scene, recovered the rifle and the robbers’ vehicle.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Minna, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” Abiodun said.
