Taraba NAWOJ Secures ₦500,000 Federal Grant for Economic Empowerment

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Taraba State Chapter, has been awarded a ₦500,000 Enterprise Support Grant by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, presented the grant during the 26th National Council on Women Affairs, Child Advancement, and Social Development held in Jalingo.

Speaking during the presentation, the minister explained that the financial support aligns with ongoing federal initiatives aimed at boosting women’s economic empowerment, strengthening livelihoods, and backing women-led organizations nationwide.

Comrade Janet Nyajon Audu, Chairperson of NAWOJ Taraba, accepted the grant through the association’s Secretary, Doris Jauro Filbert. Audu expressed gratitude to the ministry, noting that the gesture highlights the federal government’s recognition of the critical role women journalists play in public enlightenment, advocacy, and social development.

She assured that the funds would be directed toward strengthening the association and enhancing the capacity and welfare of its members.

The ongoing council meeting in Jalingo remains focused on bolstering family structures, advancing the care economy, and expanding inclusive social protection systems across the nation.
