Three Children Found Dead, One Critical at Native Doctor’s Home in Anambra

A female native doctor known as “Ezenwanyi” has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command following the discovery of four unconscious children at her residence in Umuoduba Village, Ideani, located within the Idemili North Local Government Area.
Emergency responders rushed the children to a nearby medical facility, where three were confirmed dead by doctors, while the fourth is currently fighting for survival in critical condition. The victims, whose identities remain unconfirmed, are aged between six and 15 years.
The incident sent shockwaves through the community after residents discovered the victims in the early hours of Wednesday and alerted local authorities. Police operatives from the Ogidi Division, in collaboration with community leaders and local security, swiftly intervened, inspected the premises—which features shrines and livestock quarters—and took the female suspect into custody.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive and intelligence-led investigation. Authorities hope that the recovery and testimony of the surviving child will shed light on the tragic events, as the bodies of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue for autopsy.
