Thugs Invade Court; Free Suspects In Delta

A mob on Wednesday forcefully freed some suspects brought before a Magistrate Court 1 in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South LGA, Delta State for prosecution.

The three suspects, identified as Elue Nwaolise, Azuka Obata, Ifechukwude Ikewenji and Osim Okelue, together with others were accused to have attacked Ogwashi-Uku community on Tuesday

The police in the state launched a manhunt for the trio.

Operatives of State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) brough the suspects accused of involvement in the attack Ogwashi-Uku vigilance members.

The suspects were granted bail, but were unable to perfect their bail conditions, and court officials moved to take the suspects into prison custody pending the perfection of documentation and verification of the sureties.

It was at this junction that the mob attacked and over powered two police officers and freed the handcuffed suspects.

It was learnt the mob assaulted and tore the uniforms of the policemen.

Delta Police Command spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, said efforts were on to re arrest the fleeing suspects and their collaborators.
