Tinubu: God Brought Me to Presidency Despite Obstacles

President Bola Tinubu has revealed that his journey to the presidency was marked by numerous obstacles, attributing his emergence as Nigeria’s leader to perseverance and divine intervention. He made this statement on Friday at the 15th National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja.

Tinubu reflected on the challenges preceding the 2023 general election, citing severe economic and social difficulties, including food shortages, currency redesign policy, and widespread fuel scarcity. He noted that many Nigerians endured significant hardship, with some unable to afford a single meal a day.

“God brought us here. I am a symbol of that God because, without Him, I wouldn’t be here,” Tinubu said, recalling obstacles including “wildfire, currency redesign chaos, and endless queues at filling stations” that led to deaths from hunger due to cash scarcity.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain faithful and thankful, calling for unity, tolerance, and resilience in sustaining democracy. “We must continue to be resolute that this democracy we have taken into our hands must not fail,” he said, emphasizing inclusiveness and accommodation in leadership.

He cautioned against imposing will in governance and reiterated his belief that leadership is ultimately determined by God. “God creates the opportunity for individuals, and if God says you will be there, you will be there,” Tinubu said.
