Tope Osoba’s Family Urges Public To Disregard Unverified Claims About Cause of Death

Family of late actress Temitope “Tope” Osoba has refuted social media claims about how she died, calling the reports unverified, speculative and unauthorised.

In a statement shared on the actress’s official Instagram page, the family said they are saddened by the circulation of false information during an already painful time. They warned the public against spreading unconfirmed details and urged respect for the family’s privacy.

After Osoba’s passing, several online posts suggested she died from cancer linked to previous breast-cancer treatment. Other items shared on social platforms referenced her final WhatsApp status, “Ogo tuntun” (“new glory”), claiming she passed away soon after posting it.

The family asked everyone to disregard those rumours and stop sharing content that could compound their grief.

“On behalf of the family and loved ones of Temitope Osoba, we are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved,” the statement read.

The family stated that the various claims circulating about her death were “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized,” stressing that no official information had been released on the matter.

“We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing or promoting misinformation that only adds to the pain our family is already enduring,” it added.

The family appealed for privacy and understanding, saying they needed time to mourn without the added burden of rumours and sensational reports.

It assured the public and the media that any information the family chooses to release would be communicated through official channels and authorised representatives.

“We ask the public and members of the media to rely solely on those official statements and to disregard all unverified reports,” the statement added.

The family of Awonuga/Osoba thanked members of the public for their prayers, love and support, while appealing for respect for Temitope Osoba’s memory and the family’s privacy during the mourning period.
