Troops Neutralize Terrorist, Dismantle Camp, and Rescue Three Hostages in Zamfara

In a coordinated anti-banditry operation, troops attached to Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully neutralized a suspected terrorist, dismantled an operational camp, and rescued three abducted individuals in Zamfara State.

The military exercise was carried out across frontier communities within the Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas as part of ongoing campaigns to eliminate armed banditry and restore stability to the North-West region.

According to an official military operational report released on Saturday, troops executing a combat patrol through Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa encountered a group of armed bandits in the Yanbuki District of Zurmi LGA. A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of one insurgent while several others fled the scene with gunshot wounds.

Following the encounter, security forces recovered an assortment of operational gear and weapons left behind by the fleeing criminals. The seized items included rifles, four fully loaded ammunition magazines, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, electronic devices, and pieces of military-style camouflage apparel.

Sustaining their offensive momentum, the forces advanced toward the Sabon Garin Daudawa community, forcing the remaining bandits to abandon their stronghold. The military subsequently dismantled and destroyed the camp to prevent the network from utilizing the location for future logistics or criminal operations.

During the clearing phase of the mission, troops successfully located and rescued three kidnapped victims who had been held captive in the area. The individuals were safely evacuated and transferred to a secure facility for medical evaluation and eventual reunion with their families.

Defense authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining relentless pressure on criminal networks across Zamfara and adjacent states until local communities are entirely secured and safe livelihoods are guaranteed.
