Troops Repel Terrorist Attack in Zamfara, Rescue Nine Abductees as Officer, Policeman Die

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled an attempted terrorist attack on a Forward Operating Base in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State, rescuing nine abducted civilians during a tactical pursuit.

The incident occurred at Kasuwan Daji when heavily armed terrorists attempted to breach the military base under the cover of darkness. Alerted personnel quickly detected the movement and engaged the assailants in a fierce firefight, forcing the group to retreat in disarray.

Following the initial confrontation, military reinforcements launched a pursuit of the fleeing attackers, who had seized residents from neighboring communities. The operation led to the safe rescue of nine hostages.

However, one Army officer and a police officer were killed in the line of duty during the gun battle, while two other soldiers sustained gunshot injuries. The wounded personnel were airlifted for medical treatment and are currently in stable condition.

Addressing circulating reports, military authorities dismissed online rumors claiming that six security personnel died in the clash, confirming that casualties were strictly limited to the officer and policeman.

Troops have since taken control of the area and are conducting clearance operations to locate remaining threat elements and ensure the safety of local residents. Military authorities reaffirmed their resolve to maintain offensive operations against terrorist networks across the North-West region.
