Troops Rescue 2 Kidnap Victims In Plateau Operations

Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have intensified operations across Plateau State and rescued two kidnapped victims in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas.

The Military Information Officer, Captain Chinonso Oteh, said the operations were part of deliberate efforts to deny terrorist elements freedom of action in the state.

According to him, at about 9:00am on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, troops of Sector 3 deployed in Bassa LGA, acting on credible information on the kidnap of one Mr. Ndubuisi Onuigbo, initiated a search and rescue operation and successfully freed the victim.

In a separate operation in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, 2026, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam LGA, while on a fighting patrol, encountered suspected terrorists. The troops pursued the criminals, leading to the immediate rescue of Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was abandoned by the fleeing terrorists.

Captain Oteh said the rescued victims had been debriefed and reunited with their families. He added that the successes were corroborated by eyewitnesses and community leaders.

The Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive action in disrupting criminal activities and restoring peace in the Joint Operations Area.

He appealed to residents to remain calm and continue to support troops to enable them achieve the mandate of restoring “the desired Enduring Peace” in Plateau State.
