Truck Kills FUOYE Student, Destroys Family Home in Aramoko-Ekiti

Tragedy struck in Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as a heavy-duty truck rammed into a residential building, claiming the life of 21-year-old Promise Farotimi, a 300-Level Building Technology student at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE). The incident occurred on March 30, 2026, at the Oke-Ila area of the town, leaving Farotimi’s family homeless.

The victim’s father, Rufus Farotimi, expressed his devastation, saying, “My son was killed in the accident, and I am the owner of the house. Everything is gone. I have lost my child and my shelter.

The truck driver, identified as Shuaibu Yusuf, fled the scene, but his assistant was apprehended by residents. Documents recovered from the vehicle linked the truck to a company and indicated it was transporting natural gypsum.

The police have launched an investigation, and the case has been transferred to the State Traffic Section. Farotimi’s father is appealing for justice and assistance, urging authorities to apprehend the driver and hold the company accountable.
