Two senatorial aspirants step down from APC primaries in Kebbi

Two prominent aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State have withdrawn from the party’s senatorial primary elections scheduled for May 18, 2026.
Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, a former representative of Kebbi South Senatorial District, announced his decision to step down in a letter addressed to the APC state chairman in Birnin Kebbi.
Na’Allah said his withdrawal followed careful consultations and credible information regarding the party’s disposition toward the forthcoming primary. Despite his years of commitment as a founding member of the APC at both state and national levels, he chose to step aside in the interest of party unity.
The former lawmaker stated that he had dedicated over 14 years to building and strengthening the party, and his decision was borne out of respect for the unity, peace, and progress of the APC. He expressed gratitude to his supporters and constituents for their backing, especially those who contributed financially toward the purchase of his nomination form.
In a similar development, Sani M. Kabiru, popularly known as Kabiru Sani Giant, who was contesting for the Kebbi Central Senatorial District ticket, also announced his withdrawal.
In his letter dated May 16, Kabiru said his decision was informed by personal, political, and strategic considerations. He thanked party leaders, campaign coordinators, and supporters for their solidarity and reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, pledging continued support for the party’s future electoral victories.
The withdrawals come amid growing political realignments and internal manoeuvring within the APC in Kebbi State ahead of the senatorial primaries.
