UK To Unveil $304m Military Aid For Ukraine

British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak is due to unveil a new $304 million package of military aid for Ukraine to reinforce its counteroffensive against Russia.

The package includes “hundreds of thousands of rounds of artillery” and aims to maintain “continuous flow of crucial artillery ammunition to Ukraine into 2023,” according to a statement released by the prime minister’s office on Monday.

Sunak is expected to officially disclose this during a Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) session in Latvia later on Monday, according to his office.

The JEF meeting will bring together leaders from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom to discuss “ongoing efforts to confront Russian aggression in the Nordic and Baltic regions,” according to a statement.

Sunak will urge his Nordic, Baltic, and Dutch counterparts to maintain or increase their support for Ukraine in 2023.

“The UK is already Europe’s leading provider of defensive aid to Ukraine, including sending Multiple Launch Rocket Systems and recently, 125 anti-aircraft guns,” the statement added.

“We have also provided more than 100,000 rounds of ammunition since February, with the deliveries directly linked to successful operations to retake territory in Ukraine.”

According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a Germany-based body that records support for Kyiv, the UK has provided $7.43 billion in aid since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

According to the Kiel Institute, the United Kingdom is the second-largest donor nation to Ukraine behind the United States, which has promised $51 billion in humanitarian, financial, and military aid.

Sunak’s office stated that the British leader had last week updated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the newest aid.
