US Sends Strong Directive to Citizens Amid Escalating Hostilities in Iran

The United States Government has warned its citizens in Nigeria following the heightened tensions between the US and Iran.

In a statement on Monday, US officials advised Americans living abroad to stay alert because of ongoing military actions involving Iran.

The US Department of State told citizens around the world to be extra careful.

The alert also said Americans might face travel delays because some airspace could be closed during the crisis.

“Following the launch of U.S. combat operations in Iran, Americans worldwide and especially in the Middle East should follow the guidance in the latest security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate,” the advisory stated

The advisory also encouraged Americans to sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for security updates and to follow the ‘US Department of State Security Updates for U.S. Citizens’ WhatsApp channel for more information.

The advisory came after Iranian state and local media reported that Ali Khamenei died in airstrikes said to have been carried out by the United States and Israel. Iranian officials were also said to have been killed in the strikes.

In retaliation, Iran has reportedly launched multiple missiles targeting U.S. bases in Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, vowing to avenge the death of its Supreme Leader and other regime officials.
