VDM Replies Police: I Won’t Tender My Evidence To You

Social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) has responded to the Nigeria Police Force’s invitation to provide evidence backing his allegation that some police officers aid kidnapping in Nigeria.

Police had invited VDM following comments he made during the Nigerian Bar Association 2026 Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he alleged that some police officers were aiding kidnapping and insecurity across the country.

In a video posted on his official Instagram page, VDM confirmed that he had received the invitation, saying he would honour it but would not submit his evidence to the police.

“The Nigerian police have invited me to come and give evidence that the police aid kidnapping in Nigeria. That press release came very fast. Anyways, of course, when it’s time, I will go. And then when I go, I’m not going to be giving the police my evidence. Why would I do that? I’ll be charged to court so I’ll tender the evidence in court,” he said.

He said his lawyers were already handling the matter and reacted to Nigerians who he claimed were celebrating the possibility of his arrest.

“My lawyers are on the ground. Nigerians, I can see a lot of you celebrating that I’ll be arrested. It’s crazy,” VDM said.

He also accused the police of focusing on his allegation that officers were aiding kidnapping while overlooking his comments about poor welfare and remuneration for police personnel.

“I don’t know how the police were able to listen to the part where I said they were aiding kidnapping, and surprisingly, you didn’t hear the good part where I said the policemen are not being paid well enough,” he said.

VDM maintained that improving the welfare of police officers was necessary to strengthen security in Nigeria.

“There’s no welfare for the Nigerian police. If you want Nigeria’s security to be tightened, you have to take care of our policemen,” he added.

He concluded by reiterating his readiness to respond to the police when required.

“But that being said, I’ll be waiting for the police when the time comes. Let’s meet in court,” VDM said.
