Vehicles, factory, food items destroyed as gas explosion rocks Niger
Vehicles and other goods including food items have been burnt down by an explosion which occurred in Sabon Wuse, Tafa local government area of Niger State.
The blast, it was gathered happened while a tanker was offloading gas at a terminal in the area.
The fire it was gathered started around 11pm on Saturday and burnt for hours, before the arrival of the firefighters at the scene of the incident.
The source said, “the explosion sent shockwaves through surrounding communities as people ran out of their homes for safety.”
The source further explained that the fire extended to parts of a nearby petrol station, saying that shops containing foodstuff and packed vehicles were burnt down.
He expressed gratitude that no life was lost and no one sustained injuries, stressing that it happened in the daytime when people were outside doing their business else, it would have been another sad story in Niger State.
The height of the fire could be seen all around Sabon Wuse which showed how serious it was.
