Veteran Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Buried In Ilaro
Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has been laid to rest in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, following his death at the age of 66.
The actor was buried on Monday, August 24, 2026, in accordance with Islamic rites, as family members, friends, colleagues and residents of Ilaro gathered to bid farewell to one of the most prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema
Ogogo’s burial followed funeral prayers at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro, with members of the Ilaro Muslim Community participating in the Janazah rites.
Earlier in the day, Nollywood veterans, including Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko, arrived in Ilaro to pay their final respects to their late colleague. Other prominent actors, including Mister Latin, Dele Odule, Olaiya Igwe, Fathia Balogun and Kolawole Ajeyemi, also converged on the town for the burial.
The burial came barely 24 hours after Ogogo’s death was announced by veteran actor Jide Kosoko. Kosoko said the actor died at about 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66.
