VP Shettima Arrives Sierra Leone for 69th ECOWAS Summit

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, arrived in Sierra Leone on Sunday to participate in the 69th Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government Summit.

Upon his arrival at the Sierra Leone International Airport in Lungi, the Vice President was received by a high-level delegation led by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jalloh. Also present to welcome him were prominent Nigerian officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.

Other members of the reception party included the Nigerian High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Ambassador Olawale Awe.

The high-profile regional gathering brings together heads of state, top government officials, diplomats, and international development partners from across West Africa. Delegates are scheduled to deliberate on critical regional challenges, focusing primarily on peace and security, economic integration, and sustainable development.

Nigeria’s high-level presence at the summit highlights its ongoing dedication to regional diplomacy and its efforts to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
