VIDEO: Dozens of Army Recruits Injured in Road Accident En Route to Zaria Training Depot

A bus carrying a group of shortlisted Nigerian Army recruits from Imo State was involved in a serious road accident on Saturday morning while traveling to the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The recruits, who had been cleared for basic military training, were reportedly traveling under the coordination of Lieutenant Colonel P.D. Ngal when the incident occurred. Following the crash, emergency responders and fellow travelers assisted in evacuating the victims, many of whom were seen in video footage lying on the roadside with visible injuries before being transported to nearby medical facilities.

While the total number of casualties and the official cause of the accident remain unconfirmed, military sources have expressed concern regarding the future of the injured candidates. According to industry insiders, the Nigerian Army’s rigorous training standards generally preclude the admission of recruits who sustain severe injuries, such as fractures, that would hinder their ability to complete the physically demanding basic training course.

Candidates who are unable to participate in the full training regimen, regardless of their prior success in the recruitment process, are typically subject to disqualification on medical grounds.

The Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria serves as the primary training institution for non-commissioned recruits. Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the condition of the victims or the status of their recruitment following this incident.
