VIDEO: Ekiti Farmer Survives Herdsmen Attack

A farmer in Iro Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, narrowly escaped a severe assault following a confrontation with individuals identified as herdsmen.

The victim, Ajide Kayode Aaron, reported being accosted by three men while on his way to his farm. According to his account, he confronted the men, instructing them to stay away from his cultivated land. The exchange reportedly escalated, resulting in a physical altercation.

During the incident, Aaron states he was pursued and sustained machete wounds to his head, hand, and knee. He further alleged that the assailants claimed they were acting on orders to target farmers in the area.

Aaron indicated this was not an isolated conflict, citing previous incidents where his crops and livestock had suffered significant damage.

A video circulating from the incident, showing injuries sustained by the farmer, has heightened anxieties within the local farming community. Some residents have expressed increased fear about accessing their farmlands following the attack.

 

The situation underscores ongoing tensions in the region between farming communities and pastoralists over land use. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding this specific event.
