VIDEO: Man Wielding Cutlass Disrupts Church Vigil Over Noise in Abia
A viral video showing a man entering a church vigil in Ibeku Umuahia, Abia State, with a cutlass has sparked widespread reactions online. In the clip, the man is seen demanding that the congregation leave, citing noise pollution, as church members attempt to calm him.
The incident has fueled debate on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), about the recurring problem of noise from religious and social activities in residential areas.
Many users expressed sympathy for the man’s frustration, even while condemning his aggressive approach. One commenter noted, “Noise pollution isn’t good, but bringing a cutlass isn’t the solution.” Others pointed out that places of worship in residential areas often lack proper soundproofing and called for greater regulation.
The conversation reflects growing public concern over noise pollution. Last October, the Lagos State Government sealed several establishments, including churches, for violating environmental noise standards.
