VP Shettima, APC Governors to Storm Ekiti for Oyebanji’s Final Mega Rally

Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and national leaders of the party are expected to arrive in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, for the grand finale mega rally ahead of the state’s upcoming gubernatorial election.
The high-profile political gathering, aimed at mobilizing support for the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his deputy, Chief Monisade Christianah Afuye, will take place at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion on New Iyin Road starting at 11:00 a.m.
The event marks the conclusion of a statewide grassroots campaign that covered every ward and local government area in the state. Organizers anticipate it to be one of the largest political assemblies in Ekiti’s history, pointing to recent endorsements of Governor Oyebanji by various interest groups including traditional rulers, civil servants, market associations, and youth organizations as proof of his broad political support.
The BAO Election Campaign Council stated that the high-level attendance of the Vice President and top APC leaders reflects the party’s confidence in the governor’s performance over his first term.
Over the last four years, the current administration has received praise for its focus on key sectors such as infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and security, alongside an inclusive approach to governance that has unified different political and social factions within the state.
According to the campaign council, the final rally is designed to celebrate these administrative achievements and signal a unified front heading into the polls.
While urging supporters and party members to turn out in large numbers, the council assured the public that adequate security, logistics, and traffic management arrangements have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly event.
