WAEC Releases 2026 WASSCE Certificates Online
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that certificates for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates are now accessible through its Digital Certificate Platform.
In an announcement shared on its official social media page, the examination body invited candidates to log on and retrieve their certificates through the platform.
Getting Your Certificate
Candidates can obtain their certificates either through WAEC’s official website or via the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile app, which is also available on the Google Play Store. The platform offers two main functions: one allowing candidates to view, download, and share their own certificates, and another allowing schools or organizations to confirm the authenticity of a candidate’s certificate.
To retrieve a certificate, candidates are expected to go to the platform, choose the certificate access option, enter their exam details and personal identification, complete a verification step (which may include an OTP), and then view and download the document. WAEC recommends saving the file securely or sharing it directly with any institution that requires it.
Officials noted that this certificate portal operates separately from the regular result-checking portal that candidates use to view their exam scores.
Background
This rollout follows WAEC’s earlier release of the 2026 WASSCE results. According to the council, nearly 1.95 million students sat for the exam, and about 1.2 million of them roughly 61.5% earned credit passes or better in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Before checking their results, candidates had been required to generate a PIN and serial number via the WAEC website. This year’s exam took place between April and June 2026, with participation from students in more than 24,000 secondary schools nationwide.
