YPP Replaces Presidential Candidate, Unveils Peter Agada for 2027 Election

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has announced a change in its presidential ticket for the 2027 general election, naming Peter Agada as its new presidential candidate.
Agada was officially presented as the party’s flag bearer during a substitution primary held in Abuja. He will contest alongside Ndidi Keys, who was unveiled as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.
The development follows the party’s decision to replace its earlier candidate as part of efforts to strengthen its preparations for the 2027 presidential race.
Speaking after his emergence, Agada said his candidacy was focused on addressing Nigeria’s pressing economic and social challenges, including poverty, insecurity, unemployment and food shortages.
He stressed the need for practical solutions that would improve living conditions and create opportunities for Nigerians, particularly young people.
According to him, effective governance should focus on tackling the root causes of national challenges rather than managing their consequences. He identified security, economic growth and agricultural development as key priorities of his campaign.
Agada also highlighted his experience in public policy and governance, stating that his administration would emphasise implementation-driven policies designed to deliver measurable results.
The YPP candidate called on political leaders and presidential aspirants to present clear strategies for achieving their promises, noting that successful leadership depends on effective execution of policies.
He further pledged to strengthen food production, boost agricultural output and support initiatives that would enhance economic growth and improve national food security.
Party leaders described the new ticket as a step toward offering Nigerians an alternative political platform ahead of the 2027 elections. They expressed confidence that the Agada-Keys partnership would promote inclusive leadership, national development and improved governance.
The YPP said it remains committed to presenting policy-based solutions aimed at addressing the country’s security, economic and social challenges as the election season approaches.
