2027: Aiyedatiwa Predicts Landslide Victory for Tinubu in All 36 States
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure victory in all 36 states during the 2027 presidential election, a feat he described as unprecedented in Nigeria’s political history.
The governor made the declaration on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital, during the inauguration of SWAGA 2.0, a pro-Tinubu political group formally known as the South West Agenda for Asiwaju. The group is chaired by Senator Dayo Adeyeye, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
Aiyedatiwa argued that no opposition would be able to stop the President’s second-term bid, citing Tinubu’s economic and sectoral reforms, which he said had rescued Nigeria from potential collapse.
“The economy was on the verge of collapse when Tinubu came on board. It was almost collapsing at a time when crude oil was being used to borrow money and the naira was being printed,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He noted that many governors from opposition parties had already defected to the ruling party, recognising the President’s performance in governance.
“What I am trying to say is that the whole nation has seen the quality of the President that we have, and there is no alternative now,” the governor added. “As it is now, Tinubu may be the first president to win all 36 states. I won all 18 local government areas in Ondo, so it is not impossible for the President to also achieve that.”
Speaking earlier, Senator Dayo Adeyemi, chairman of SWAGA, echoed the governor’s sentiment, stating that Tinubu’s performance across various sectors would guarantee him a landslide re-election. He pointed to the resolution of recurring academic strikes by university lecturers as one of the administration’s achievements.
“Asiwaju came at the right moment; we were at a precipice, and he pulled us back to the path of development,” Adeyeye said. “Before, we had incessant ASUU strikes, but now it is a thing of the past. He deserves re-election.”
The convener of SWAGA, Oyetunde Ojo, a former member of the House of Representatives from Ekiti State, said the group had relaunched its campaign for the President based on his record. He noted that the defection of governors to the ruling party was a voluntary endorsement of Tinubu’s leadership.
“This is a man who has done a lot, and that is why we are coming out to ask Nigerians to assess his performance,” Ojo said.
