3 Commissioners Inaugurated As Plateau Restructures Govt
Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has sworn in three new Commissioners into the State Executive Council as part of efforts to reposition government for better service delivery.*
The new Commissioners are Hon. Ishaku Maren Yobo from Bokkos LGA, Prof. Gloria Samuel from Bassa LGA, and Comr. Prince Miaphen from Quanpan LGA.
The swearing-in ceremony was held on Wednesday, August 20, 2026, at the Victoria Gowon Auditorium, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.
Governor Mutfwang said the appointments were deliberate steps to strengthen the machinery of government. He charged the new appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them with competence, commitment and fresh ideas.
The Governor explained that the ceremony proceeded despite recent security incidents in parts of the state because governance must not be delayed. With about nine months left in the administration’s first term, he said there was need to re-examine structures and make adjustments to maximise impact.
“We were elected to serve the people, and we want to ensure that we maximise the opportunity left at our disposal,” Mutfwang stated.
He disclosed that the Secretary to the State Government would release new postings to ministries, and that further reorganisation of ministries and departments would be carried out to enhance efficiency.
The Governor also announced that more appointments would be made, including Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants, to broaden participation and bring governance closer to the people.
He clarified that the changes were not a verdict on past commissioners, but part of efforts to reposition government and deploy people with capacity to add value.
On security, Mutfwang described recent attacks as a setback but reassured citizens of the administration’s determination to protect lives and property. “We have the capacity, we have the determination, we have the willingness to secure the people of Plateau State,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the new Commissioners, Hon. Ishaku Maren Yobo thanked the Governor for the appointment. He assured that they would align with government policies and work diligently to add value in their areas of responsibility.
The event was attended by senior government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, stakeholders and family members of the new Commissioners
