40-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Alleged Dangerous Driving Incident

A 24-year-old man, Jamie Sulaiman, has been charged before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over a dangerous driving incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian, Oluwakoremide Ibukunola, aged 40.

According to police prosecutor Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the accident occurred on December 2, 2025, near Ilawe Motor Park in the Adere area of Ado-Ekiti. Sulaiman was allegedly riding a white TVS Neo motorcycle (Registration No: Ekiti ADK 468 QD) in a negligent and dangerous manner when he struck and killed Ibukunola.

The prosecution further stated that the defendant was operating the motorcycle on a public highway without a valid driver’s licence.

The charges are brought under Sections 18(1), 7(1), and 34 of the Road Traffic Law of Ekiti State, 2011.

The defence counsel, Barrister Opeyemi Esan, appealed for bail, which was granted by Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun. Sulaiman was granted bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with one surety in the same amount.

The case has been adjourned to January 30, 2026, for further hearing.
