5 Die In Flooding-hit Adamawa Communities

The Adamawa state emergency management agency (ADSEMA) has disclosed that no less than five persons in different communities have been killed as a result of flooding.

ADSEMA executive secretary, Suleiman Muhammad  said this on Thursday during an interview in Yola, the state capital.

Muhammad said several houses and infrastructure have been swept away by the flood in Fufore, Yola South and Mubi South local government areas (LGA).

He said the agency is carrying out various flood sensitisation campaigns across the 21 LGAs of the state, while urging residents of high risk areas to relocate to safer grounds.

Muhammad added that the agency is committed to effectively managing emergency situations in the state.

“Residents of flood prone areas are advised to adhere to the instructions given by experts. They have to be very vigilant,” he said.

“More rain will fall, we cannot say that it is over yet. People must be safety conscious.”
