Nigeria Army to launch Training Center in Abakaliki – COAS.

The Nigerian Army is set to establish a new training depot in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, as part of efforts to boost its combat strength with more trained soldiers. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, announced this at the Passing Out Parade of the 89 Regular Recruit Intake at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Abakaliki depot, which will complement existing depots in Zaria and Oshogbo. The new depot will support the Army’s strategic plan to increase troop strength and enhance operational effectiveness.

Shuaibu explained that the training curricula across the three depots will be streamlined to ensure uniform standards and the acquisition of relevant military skills. He congratulated the newly passed-out soldiers, describing their achievement as a product of hard work, resilience, and determination.

The COAS urged the recruits to conduct their careers with selfless service, discipline, and a positive attitude, emphasizing that they are joining the Army at a critical time when the nation faces diverse security challenges.

The Abakaliki depot is expected to become operational soon, and the Army plans to hold a Passing Out Parade for recruits at the Depot Nigerian Army, Oshogbo, next week.
