Security Forces Rescue Two Kidnapped Victims in Bauchi

A joint security operation led by the Bauchi State Police Command has resulted in the successful rescue of two individuals who had been held captive in the Gwamnare Forest, located within the Ningi Local Government Area.

The mission was executed by a collaborative team comprising the police force’s Violent Crime Response Unit, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the local Divisional Police Officer, and specialized forestry guards. This operation followed specific orders from the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, to intensify efforts against rising kidnapping activities in the region.

According to the official police statement, the mission was initiated on July 1, 2026, targeting areas surrounding the Gwamnare Forest, specifically near the villages of Dogon Ruwa and Rafin Chiyawa.

The rescued victims have been identified as 50-year-old Alhaji Yahaya, a resident of Masallachi Hamlet, and Alhaji Kabiru, who resided within the Gwamnare Forest area. Authorities confirmed that the operation was conducted successfully without any casualties or loss of life.

Following the rescue, the Commissioner of Police commended the tactical teams for their professionalism. Local authorities have reassured residents of the affected communities that security operations will continue, with ongoing efforts to locate and rescue other individuals still believed to be in captivity and to eliminate criminal presence in the state’s forest reserves.
