Jigawa Police Nab 17 Suspects in Armed Robbery,Drug Busts

The Jigawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of 17 suspects linked to various criminal activities, including armed robbery, drug dealing, and vandalism, following coordinated operations across the state. A range of items, including firearms, narcotics, and stolen property, were recovered during the raids.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Dutse, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, outlined the Command’s recent operational successes under Commissioner of Police CP Dahiru Muhammad.

The arrests spanned multiple local government areas. In Dutse, two suspects were apprehended for robbery, with ₦143,250, mobile phones, and weapons recovered. A separate operation in Malam Madori led to the arrest of an alleged armed robber, while police continue to pursue four fleeing accomplices. Also in Malam Madori, two individuals were arrested for vandalizing a transformer and stealing copper wires.

Further operations in Kirikasamma LGA resulted in three arrests for armed robbery and culpable homicide, with a motorcycle and phones seized. Additional raids in Kaugama, Gumel, Sara, and Hadejia areas led to two more arrests and the recovery of a locally made rifle, five blocks of cannabis, and other illicit drugs.

In a related incident, two motorcycles were seized from suspected animal rustlers in Birniwa LGA, though the suspects remain at large.

SP Adam reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to maintaining peace and security. “We will continue to intensify our efforts to ensure peace and security across the state,” he stated.

He also called for continued public cooperation, emphasizing that timely information from citizens is vital to combating crime. All arrested suspects will be prosecuted in court after investigations are concluded, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend those still fleeing.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to its duty, stating, “Our mission is to serve and protect, and we will stop at nothing to achieve it.”
