Fasoranti’s Death, Exit of Towering a Figure — PBAT Continuity Project
The PBAT Continuity Project (PCP) has described the passing of Afenifere leader and elder statesman, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, as the exit of a towering voice and figure in the Southwest.
The group said Pa Fasoranti’s death is not just the loss of a leader of Afenifere, but the loss of a national icon and the last standing pillar of the Awolowo political dynasty.
Reacting to the death of the nonagenarian in Akure at 100, the PCP said his high level of integrity, selflessness and deep commitment to national development were unmatched.
In a statement by its Director-General, Pastor Femi Agagu, the group said the passing of the national icon has left a big vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
“A national monument has fallen, but his legacies of integrity, courage and selfless service will continue to linger. Pa Fasoranti never compromised his principles of true federalism, social justice, free education and welfare for the masses,” the statement read.
According to the Tinubu support group, “Baba’s exit at 100 years is indeed the end of a remarkable era in Nigerian history having lived through colonialism, independence, military rule and democracy, and remained steadfast to the ideals of Chief Obafemi Awolowo till his last breath. He was a NADECO chieftain, a democrat, and a symbol of courage.”
“From the classrooms where he built future leaders as a foremost educationist, to the Executive Council of Old Ondo State as Commissioner for Finance where he served with legendary integrity under Pa Adekunle Ajasin, to leading Afenifere since 2008 through turbulent waters, he never compromised his principles,” the group added.
The PBAT Continuity Project commiserated with the Fasoranti family, the Afenifere group and the people of Ondo State, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
