Ekiti Rewards 100 Sanitation Workers for Outstanding Service

The Ekiti State Government has recognized and rewarded approximately one hundred street sweepers, drivers, and staff of the State Waste Management Agency (EKSWAMA) for their contributions to a cleaner environment in 2025.

Presenting the cash gifts on behalf of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the Director General of EKSWAMA, Mr. Sunkanmi Onipede, stated that the gesture was an act of appreciation for the workers’ dedication. He highlighted the foundational role of sanitation in public health, environmental sustainability, and the state’s image, noting that their daily efforts are vital yet often overlooked.

Mr. Onipede reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving working conditions and fostering professionalism within the agency. He also urged all staff to begin the new year with renewed discipline and a shared responsibility for keeping Ekiti clean.

The event concluded with prayers for the year ahead, underscoring a collective commitment to service and community impact. This initiative highlights EKSWAMA’s focus on valuing the frontline personnel essential to effective public service.
