32 Suspects Nabbed for Kidnapping, Theft in Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, has announced the arrest of 32 individuals linked to a range of criminal activities across the state.

The arrests were made during recent intelligence-led operations, the agency’s commander, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed on Sunday.

According to Adeleye, the suspects were apprehended for various alleged offences, including kidnapping, attempted murder, theft, and violations of the state’s anti-grazing law.

He detailed several cases, including the arrest of three men in Idoani accused of attempting to kill their employer—a Fulani man—and destroying his livestock. In Oba Akoko, two suspects were arrested at a suspected ransom exchange point linked to kidnapping cases in the Akungba area.

Other arrests were made in locations including Ile-Oluji, Ondo Town, and Odigbo Local Government Area, where a previously escaped kidnapping suspect was re-arrested.

Adeleye stated that the operations, conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, reflect ongoing efforts to curb crime. He affirmed that Ondo State remains peaceful and noted a decline in criminal activity.

The announcement follows a recent interception by Amotekun of a truck carrying 38 men from northern Nigeria, who were unable to state their definite destination within the state.
