Atiku Condemns Killing of Mother, Six Children in Kano
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has described the killing of a woman and her six children in Kano as a senseless tragedy, calling for decisive security action.
In a statement on Sunday, Atiku expressed being “heartbroken by the gruesome killing” which occurred in the Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of Kano metropolis. He extended his condolences to the bereaved family and community.
The former presidential candidate questioned the implementation of official security directives, stating, “It is either the so-called marching orders to the security agencies are not being actioned or it is merely political talk.”
He urged security agencies to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice is served, adding, “We must end the culture of violence and ensure safety for all.”
The Kano State Police Command confirmed that three principal suspects have been arrested following coordinated operations between January 17 and 18, 2026.
The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from various groups, amplifying calls for improved security and accountability nationwide.
