Police Arrest Two Suspects in Connection with Labourer’s Killing in Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old labourer in Budo Mosalasi Village, Saki.

In a statement on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Ayanlade Olayinka said the arrests followed actionable intelligence received after the incident. The suspects were identified as Lateef Giwa, 35, and Adediran Quazim.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Giwa was the employer of the deceased, Abdulraheem Koni. According to the police, a disagreement during work escalated into a violent assault by Giwa and Quazim, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

“Examination of the deceased confirmed the extent of the injuries,” the statement noted. Although Koni initially received medical care, he later died from his wounds.

Police Commissioner CP Femi Haruna has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a detailed inquiry. The command urged the public to provide any credible information to assist the investigation.
