Ekiti State Approves N76.6 Million Loans for Primary School Teachers
The Ekiti State Government has approved N76.6 million in vehicle and housing loans for public primary school teachers in the state.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, said the approval covers vehicle loans for 49 teachers and housing loans for 72 beneficiaries.
Akinwumi described the move as part of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to improving teachers’ welfare and boosting morale in the education sector.
“Improved welfare will enable teachers to perform better and create a more conducive learning environment for pupils,” he stated, adding that the state had previously disbursed N200 million under a revolving loan scheme for educators.
The Permanent Secretary of SUBEB, Mr. Michael Omolayo, provided a breakdown, noting that N43 million was allocated for vehicle loans and N33.6 million for housing loans.
This follows Governor Oyebanji’s approval in September 2025 of N596.6 million in car and housing loans for 807 teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools across the state.
Officials urged beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and to reciprocate the gesture with greater dedication to duty.
