Mangal Cement Provides Additional Solar-Powered Borehole to Kogi Host Community

Mangal Cement Industry has commissioned an additional solar-powered borehole in Iluhagba, its host community in Kogi State, as part of its commitment to the Community Development Agreement (CDA) signed with the area.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, which attracted a large turnout of community members, the company’s General Manager of Transport and Logistics, Muhammad Sanda, reaffirmed Mangal Cement’s dedication to maintaining a cordial relationship with its host community and implementing all agreed projects to enhance living standards.

Sanda disclosed that the company had already delivered six solar-powered boreholes as outlined in the CDA, explaining that the additional one was necessary to support the existing facilities and ensure uninterrupted access to clean, potable water for residents.

Community Leaders Commend Company

The monarch of the community, Oba David Olayemi, commended the company’s generosity, noting that the people were deeply grateful for the support, particularly during the dry season when water scarcity is most acute. He praised Mangal Cement for living up to expectations and for its consistent efforts to aid community development.

Also speaking, the President of the Iluhagba Development Association, Dr Wale Oyelola, lauded the company for heeding the people’s requests. He assured that the association would continue to support efforts aimed at maintaining harmony between the company and the community.

Oyelola also acknowledged the company’s previous gesture in December, when it provided medical supplies valued at over ₦5 million, along with other items, to the community.

Broader Impact Across Host Communities

The Community Liaison Officer, Dare Osawu, explained that the additional solar-powered borehole became necessary after one of the existing units developed technical issues. He noted that the new facility, located in front of the traditional ruler’s palace, would complement the existing ones and improve water access.

Osawu commended the General Manager of Administration and Human Resources, Dr Umar Musa, for providing leadership that has fostered a cordial relationship between the company and its host communities.

He further disclosed that Mangal Cement had also provided another solar-powered borehole in Odokoro-Gbede to replace an existing one that was not functioning optimally. Similar projects, he added, had been executed in Agrigbon-Gbede and Iyara.

Osawu urged host communities to continue supporting the company, emphasizing that a conducive atmosphere would enable it to achieve its goals while contributing to community development.
