Cristiano Ronaldo Leaves Saudi Arabia for Spain Amid Rising Regional Tensions
Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has departed Saudi Arabia for Madrid, Spain, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following recent US-Israeli strikes in Iran, according to reports.
The 41-year-old Portuguese captain left Riyadh late Monday aboard his Bombardier Global Express 6500 private jet, valued at £61 million ($81 million), the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday.
Flightradar24 data confirmed that the aircraft “departed Riyadh at 8:00 pm and arrived in Madrid at almost 1:00 am, flying a path over Egypt and the Mediterranean.”
Ronaldo’s departure comes as regional hostilities intensify. In the early hours of Tuesday, two drones struck the United States Embassy in Riyadh, causing a fire and minor material damage, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defence. The diplomatic quarter in the Saudi capital, where Ronaldo resides with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and their five children, has been affected by the recent attacks linked to the broader conflict.
The developments follow US-Israeli military strikes in Iran on February 28, 2026, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of several Iranian leaders. Iranian state media confirmed on March 1 that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had been killed, prompting a declaration of 40 days of mourning and a seven-day national holiday.
