Accord Party Launches Adeleke’s Re-election Campaign
The Accord Party in Osun State has officially commenced its political campaigns ahead of the August 15 governorship election, urging residents to support the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Victor Babalola Akande, the state chairman of the Accord Party, described the forthcoming election as a defining moment for the people of Osun.
He emphasised the need to sustain the development recorded since 2022 under the Adeleke administration.
Governor Adeleke has maintained widespread support across the state due to his administration’s focus on people-centred policies, Akande said.
“The forthcoming election is no doubt a defining moment for the people of Osun State a moment to protect the progress achieved in the last three years and prevent a return to the dark era of maladministration,” he stated.
Akande highlighted several key achievements of the current government, including road construction, school rehabilitation, urban renewal projects, and improved healthcare services.
He also noted enhanced welfare packages for workers, pensioners, and senior citizens who had previously been neglected.
“From Osogbo to Ilesa, from Ede to Ile-Ife, Ila, Iwo, Ikire, and across every federal constituency, the footprints of purposeful governance are clearly visible. Osun is no longer a state struggling under the weight of neglect; it is now confidently taking its rightful place among progressive states in the federation,” he said.
The Accord chairman also warned the All Progressives Congress against introducing violence or misinformation during the campaign period, accusing the opposition of still recovering from its defeat in the 2022 governorship election.
“The APC is still smarting from the humiliation it suffered when the people of Osun overwhelmingly rejected its years of misrule. Unfortunately, instead of learning from that defeat, some elements within the party are again attempting to introduce violence and desperation into our political environment,” Akande said.
He urged residents to remain peaceful and vigilant while asserting that Governor Adeleke’s achievements would serve as the party’s strongest campaign message.
The Accord Party also called on traditional institutions, community leaders, youth groups, and women organisations to support the governor in safeguarding the state’s progress.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to a peaceful, issue-based campaign, expressing confidence that the people of Osun would once again demonstrate their support for Governor Adeleke at the polls.
