APC Convention to Host 8,453 Delegates Nationwide

The All Progressives Congress will host 8,453 delegates at its forthcoming National Convention, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced on Thursday in Abuja.

The delegates will represent all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

Speaking at the APC World Media Briefing, Idris said the convention underscores the party’s inclusiveness, unity, and democratic maturity, while reinforcing its commitment to national development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are expecting a total of 8,453 delegates from across the country. This clearly demonstrates the national spread, inclusiveness, and organisational strength of our great party,” he said.

Idris assured that all accredited delegates would be fully accommodated, stressing that arrangements had been concluded to prevent any exclusion.

He added that delegate movements from various parts of the country had so far been seamless and incident-free, reflecting improved security and infrastructure.

A fully equipped media centre will also be operational at the convention venue, he revealed, to guarantee the free flow of information. All accredited media organisations will have access to cover the event.

“There will be a media centre to ensure that Nigerians are adequately informed. We are inviting all media organisations, and accreditation will be provided for effective coverage,” Idris said. He urged journalists to report responsibly, honestly, and in the national interest.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; Vice Chairman of the Central Committee, Pius Ayim; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare; and Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The convention is expected to serve as a defining demonstration of the APC’s organisational strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
