Three-Day-Old Baby Abducted from Mother’s Home Rescued in Nasarawa, Two Suspects Arrested

The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was abducted from his mother’s residence and arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.

The infant’s mother, 19-year-old Aisha Bada, a resident of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market, Mararaba, in Karu Local Government Area, reported at the police station on March 29 that unknown persons had broken into her home and taken her newborn son.

According to the report, on March 28, 2026, at about 11:50 a.m., while she was asleep with her baby in an uncompleted building on the outskirts of Unguwan Bawa, two unidentified men forced their way into the house, threatened her with violence, and abducted the child to an unknown destination. The mother’s husband, Abubakar Isah, a commercial tricycle rider, had been away in Lagos for business for about five months.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police ordered detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division to visit the scene and launched a full-scale investigation. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested two suspects Furera Abdulrahman, 35, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39, of Unguwan Bako early on Thursday at about 4 a.m. and recovered the baby from their possession.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime and named an accomplice who remains at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

The rescued baby was taken to the Medical Centre in Mararaba, where a doctor confirmed he was in good health before he was discharged. He has since been reunited with his parents. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further inquiry.

The police command reassured the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
