UN Chief Warns Global Toll of Middle East Crisis as Conflict Enters Third Month
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has voiced fresh alarm over the worsening humanitarian and geopolitical fallout from the ongoing Middle East crisis, warning that the world is now feeling its ripple effects as the conflict enters its third month.
In a statement on Friday, Guterres stressed that the crisis has extended far beyond the region, with global consequences intensifying.
“The Middle East crisis is in its third month and the whole of humanity is paying the price,” he said.
The UN chief called on all parties to act with caution and restraint, especially as efforts to secure a ceasefire continue. He urged them to avoid any actions that could jeopardize those talks.
Guterres also emphasized the need for a lasting political solution, noting that temporary pauses in fighting would not address the root causes of the conflict. “The world needs a peaceful, comprehensive, and durable resolution to the conflict,” he added.
His remarks come amid rising international concern over the humanitarian toll of the crisis, and growing calls from global leaders for renewed diplomacy and sustained efforts to reduce tensions.
